A 1994 mustang gt automatic convertible with 3:73 gears,shift kit,Cold air intake,pulleys,magnaflow exhaust,x pipe,torque converter and an aluminum driveshaft?

Around how much horsepower would a car like this have?

Would a stock 2001 mustang gt 5 speed coupe have any trouble beating it in the 1/4 mile?

im guessing low to mid 14's.. i couldnt tell you for sure..

01's come with 260hp bone stock.. 94/95's come with 215hp intake, exhaust, pulleys.. wont make up for that

btw those #'s arent RW.

First off..Welcome to our boards!!!

I had the same mods at my first dyno, except NO CAI, but I had headers. (balance out)

My car made 203HP/278 TQ, but that's with a PI STALLION stalled for a Vortech, which was not on yet. Your car should dyno similarly.

You may be at 14.5 with those mods and 'vert, +/- 3 or 4 tenths depending on driving, tires, etc. High 90's MPH

I would say a 14.7 at 92. The automatic is a pig with a stock converter. Unless the 01 spins badly off the line, they should beat you no problem.

Joe, He's got an aftermarket converter..That is why I said 14.5 +/- couple of tenths, depending on tires, driving, etc.

I would guess low 14s w/ those gears and stuff... I think it would be a close match if you got a great launch... but I do believe that the GT would win...sorry

-btw, w/ CAI and pulleys, I can beat a 200 GT (just gloating now... finally got numbers from the dyno)

In my not-so-humble opinion, the biggest 1/4 mile factor is driver. Can't tell you how many stock 99+ GT's I've seen run 15+. And I've yet to see a local Mach 1 owner get their car into the 13's .

RC, I completely missed the part where he listed a torque converter . He didn't mention a stall speed though.

Dave, your track really does suck . Just this past Friday, there was 2 guys in Mach running against eachother, one was running 12-teens and the other was running high 12-oh's. The one guy removed his left headlight for a better ram air and was running a 4.30 with a spool. Not sure what the other guy was running. Damn impressive though.

Although the stall speed may matter for launching, just the fact that it is aftermarket, assuming it is semi-decent is enough for about 5-7% more power to the wheels just by the fact that it is probably smaller and robs less power than the stock pig one.

Actually I do have another question,I know a guy who put an aftermarket cam in his gt with out changing the heads or intake, if I did the same thing what would I be gaining, would it be worthless and not do anything or will it help my 1/4 mile time and accleration?

I really want to run 1/4 mile times that a 99-04 gt would run or if possible faster, just don't wanna spend too much $$$.

BTW I really appreciate your guys help and info!

The stock HO cam isn't too bad at all, changing it out with stock heads & intake will probably lose you power, not gain it. My opinion: pullies, gears, intake, heads, cam, headers, MAF, throttle body, in that order .

well, if you are pressed for cash, I reccomend CAI (procarparts on ebay, $50 shipped) and pulleys... (brand new from me $80)... that got me to 14.2 times... beat a stock 99GT every time I've raced them... it's all up to the driver too... even though they might be able to beat me at the track, they won't because they dont' get the perfect run in... where I'm hitting 14.3s consistantly...

that would be a decent race...01-03's tend to dyno around 225RWHP or so stock.. the 94 would probably dyno around 205-215RWHP. Add to that the weight on a convertible, and your at a greater loss..

I know, i have both cars.. My auto coupe 01 ran 14.6@97 stock(2.4 60'), when my 94 aode vert ran 15.3's@92mph (2.2 60') with all the bolt ons, including gears..
