To make a new edge GT run like a 03-04 Mach 1. I have a buddy that has an automatic 2000 GT, and after I took him for a ride in my granddad's Mach 1, he decided that that was the power level he was looking for in his car. He asked what it would take to make his car run like the Mach 1 (also automatic).

I was thinking: CAI, exhaust, pullies, Stage 2 cams, tune, and gears (although he said that he would not put more than 3.73s in it, it does a good bit of highway driving).

Would that get him there? Or would it still need a bit more?

You would definitely need cams. My Mach made just over 300RWHP with a K&N and mid length headers, catted X and to get close to that you would need just about every bolt on, cams and really head work as well.

That's what I was thinking as well. I think it's Scupking on here that made something like 295/310, and that was with LTs and TB/Plenum. So I'm thinking what I named would maybe make 275? My friend hasn't really said if he will actually do anything to the car, but I do know that he loves to work on cars, and he loved the Mach 1. So I don't know, maybe I'll have another car to help work on now that I'm done with mine.

Exactly what I did is what he is going to want to do. Though I put out more power then a stock mach 1 with my automatic GT (I have 350 crank hp vs Mach 1s 305 crank hp). Just look at my sig below for what mods I have. Even without the long tubes he would still be around 275+rwhp (330 crank hp).

To get an auto GT to the same power levels as a stock Mach:

Full exhaust
full intake (CAI, TB, Plenum)
pair of cams
tune

To make an auto GT FEEL like a stock Mach:

Full exhaust
gears

OR........just buy some giggle juice
