My car should be here in about a month and I am trying to get an idea of what I want to do to it once I break it in. I am planning on putting between 1500 and 2000 into it. So what I want to know is how would you spend that money on a 2004 cobra! Also, what is your opinion of SLP exhaust systems for the Cobra? My friend is a dealer for them and can get me their stuff at cost!

I personally don't prefer the sound of SLP's exhaust. Just doesn;t give it that Mustang rumble in my opinion.

Go with a BASSANI x-pipe with cats, and a BASSANI cat back. Best in the business, second to none. I assure you it's the best sounding muscle car rumble out there. I put a bassani x-pipe with cats and cat back on my 99 cobra, best mod I've done, next to the gears. Do it, you'll thank me later. They're expensive, but the best always is. Go to www.proficient performance.com. They have the best BASSANI prices. LEt me know how you like it.

P.S. I put the aluminum ones on , they were cheaper. I live in southern california, so I don't have to worry about rust to much. Plus, I'm only gonna have the car another 4-5 years. I did'nt feel like putting a super expensive Stainless steel exhaust on a car I'm gonna sell in a few years. I'm saving for the 2006-07 mustang cobra monster. The aluminum is just as good performance wise, it just does'nt last forever.

Later

Mustang sound is off road H and Flowmasters.

For an 04 Cobra and $2,000 I would get a smaller pulley, full exhaust and a tune. Check out www.svtperformance.com . They have a lot of 03+ Cobra guys over there that would be able to help you out more I'd bet.

Exhaust, cai, and work on suspension/traction.

That's my plan at least when I get mine. Don't want to mess with pulley because of warranty issues.

Exhaust and intake mods with a good tune should put you over 400rwhp and 400 rwtq pretty easily with a good tune. The pulley just shifts the torque curve down so that you make the power earlier. If you plan on driving the car on the street almost everyday, you may not want 450+rwtq at 3000rpm. Just like everybody else, I am sure you'll want more. I know I did. My pulley changed in 4 weeks from time of purchase.

I found a website with exhaust sounds clips. http://www.mustangexhaust.com. I checked the bassani out and it sounds nice. So I will need to get an X-pipe and the catback system, correct? Model number Anyone? Who makes a Cold Air Intake >K&N? What about a diablo predator programmer? Only a few more week until it arrives and cannot wait. It seems like a year ago when I went to put my money down. Should I drive it easy for the first 500 or 1000 miles?
