I'm amazed by what you guys have done with your IIs. So I'm curious... if you had my car, what would you do with it? (besides sell it immediately for something else )

What I like about my car is the red/white color scheme with the white interior. But overall I'd like to jazz things up a bit. I kind of like the idea of a two-tone look, with red, white, or silver fade, but I'm not sure how that would look.

Even though I'm going for a stock look right now, I'm in love with the idea of a roadster (especially after seeing RoadsterII's car). I think if I had the money and skills I'd go in that direction. And of course, I'd like a more powerful motor.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to hear what you guys would do with a basic coupe like mine.

I would swap out that slow ass motor with a 5.0 and a heavy duty tremec transmission. And mod the hell outta the motor.

I'd go for the sleeper look... bigger wheels/tires, black steel rims, lower it, maybe shave a few emblems here and there but nothing too dramatic. Finally I'd stick a single or dual turbo on it and shoot for 400-500 horsepower.

HEHE, I prefer the stock look myself. I didn't see a pic of your car but keep it clean, rust free and motorcraft parts.....Thats where its at....hehe, my opinion, of course.

Denice, your II is too nice to cut up.
If it was mine thought.....remove the side trim, repaint it white on bottom and a light silver on top with the grill painted to match the silver. Then I'd tint the windows, lower it some, get some 16x7 cobra rims and tires.
For the drivetrain....turbo v-6 and overdrive auto tranny or a 5 speed tranny(maybe out of a t-bird).

Nice II...almost too nice to really mess with.
But, if you must change something, I'd change the wheels first. Giving it some attitude.
Then I would maybe do something performance related...but still its too nice to mess with IMO.

Fix, restore, clean, polish. It's II nice to cut up. BUT I f I had a coupe that needed fixing up... resto mod would be the way to go, big tires, spoiler on front and rear, dropped a couple of inches, Supercharged 302. White on White. Maybe Cobra stripes, Maybe not hmmmm have to think on that a bit.

thanks for all the compliments don't worry I'm not going to do anything drastic (yet). It's just fun to consider the possibilities. there are a lot of neat ideas here.

I do want to jazz the car up a bit because except for the white interior my car's a little ho-hum. The new wheels will help (should get them on in a week or two).

And I'm thinking ahead to paint. I like the red and silver idea RoadsterII came up with. That's kind of different. p.s. I'm not a fan of the side trim so that's the first thing to go.

There's a II down the road that has been lowered and I really like it. But is that considered a modification? Because right now my car is totally stock and so I'd want to think hard before doing that even though I think it would look cool.

The 400-500 hp...well... that would be real nice.

stock V6 = 93 hp baby! (if I'm lucky) LOL

I consider lowering a mod. Dropped spindles in my opinion are the way to go because they keep the geometry correct, if you ever want to go back to stock just remove them and put the originals back on.

This is how my coupe is sitting at the moment. 2" dropped spindles 1" drop in the rear. 15" rims.

Have put the lacey wheels on it yet? Some white letters on the lacey wheels will make a big difference in appearance. If you like driving your car leave the motor alone. Maybe a Cobra II rear facing scoop and chin spoiler......

Love the removed marker lights and holes. Cool. My coupe is scheduled for that operation, too.

As for what to do with your coupe, Denice, unless you're into serious neck snapping acceleration, I would build a fairly mild AFR iron-headed balanced 302 bored .030" with 9.75:1 compression, 289 rods, roller cam, roller rockers, hypereutectic(sp?) pistons, dual-plane performer(or rpm) intake, 600-650cfm demon carb, 1 1/2" headers, and dual 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmaster 3-chamber mufflers. Tune the hell out of it for optimum power and efficiency. The relatively high compression and longer 289 rods will give it better efficiency than a standard 302, which is important with the current price of gas. (I can't afford to drive my car much these days, which sucks royally, but the kids gotta come first, heh)
If you go with Eos' idea of a tremec 5-speed along with the above stated engine and add some 3.89 - 4:10 gears in a locker rear, you'll be getting damn good gas mileage and still kick a lot of ass on the street, and it'll sound awesome doing it.

Didnt you have some lacy wheels you were restoring for that car? Sending those out for machining and clear powder coating would make them look killer, too. Turned aluminum finish on those would be unique.

The marker lights and stuff were removed from the car when I bought it. Thankfully. Looks much cleaner.

The wheels have been powdercoated white and I'm having the red pinstriping re-done. I also have the chrome center caps with the red centers.

I hope the car won't look too... ahem... "pimped out" with white wheels on a white coupe. I think the chrome center caps and the striping will tone it down a bit. I hope it will look okay. (I'll hang on to the hubcaps just in case )

I would just go with wheels for now. If your all-white aluminum mesh wheels are a bit much, you could probably find someone to remove the powder coating just from the rim, leaving it on the center. Of course it might be easier to completely strip them and recoat just the centers...

You could also add some red pinstriping on the body like the factory did to match the wheels...
