i might have a diffrent job opertunity for $4.00 more offered to me in a couple of weeks. should i take it or stay where i'm at? it's a hit and miss type of deal basically i'll be installing a new line and if they like me and my work then i'm in like flint, if not out the door i go. i have it made where i'm at now but this trade is full of lay off's, we are good prob. till the end of the year for work. but either way i'm on swing till next school year starts so we dont have to worry bout daycare over the summer for the kids. but then again if i take the new job then i dont know how long i'd be on swing for? if i stay here then i could go to day's then if i wanted to. BTW if i take this new job and i dont work out the job i'm at now would be more then willing to take me back. peace

IMO, it is dependent on what 4 dollars means to you. Is it 5, 10, 15, 25% raise? You need to decide how important 4 dollars an hour is, weight the benies between the two gigs and then decide.

I also would not count on being taken back. Always leave a job assuming you'll never come back. Try not to burn bridges, but once you are gone nothing is for certain.

Clear as mud? :)

Take care,
Ceyko

well john I had an opportunity to make 25 more dollars per hour but the job only was permanent if they liked your work more than the other employees..they would hire maybe 14 and keep only 7 past 6 months...I stayed where I am at cause it is a little more secure..(although only 11 an hour :(..)

Show me the money, and work your F-ing azz off. When you get your first paycheck, you'll understand what a $4 raise can do for your motivation. After you've worked their awhile, then you can find out when you can and can't slack off. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

% wise i make $17.50 now and if i go to this new place i'll start off at $21.50, as far as being welcomed back to this job they already said so. the guy that might get me the new job works with me now and they know that when he goes back to this place then i most likely will follow, he gave his 2 weeks friday and they instantly asked me if i were leaving as well i told them i didnt know yet, but if i were to then i would give them 2 weeks as well, but then back to the new place we start at $21.50 and everyone else starts at min. wage, we get paid the highest in the plant :D and prob. do the least amount of work but when were busy look out! *******s and elbow's, every second that the line is down is thousands. so we'll see depends  they might already have everyone that they need. peace

If you do take it, make it the mission of your life to succeed in staying with the company. Meaning, balls to the wall to "get 'er done" and impress the new company.

It sounds great now but, how much more will childcare cost per hour? How far is it from your house each way? Closer are farther? What kind of perks are there? And what about seniority? You'll be the new guy agian. And when this guy leaves in 2 wks, are you moved up the ladder at this job? Not to mention, if you stay with this company, that will show them some dedication on your part.
I know what your doing rite now, isn't easy and it can really suck but, you can do everything they throw at you, there's room for you to move up and they want you to stay. Some places don't care if a guy stays or goes. This place does.
"One must take risks to get ahead in life".
"Do I stay? Or do I go? Both are risks."
Good Luck, it's never an easy discion.
