hey guys someone called me up today and offered me a 1973 Mustang Fastback with a rebuilt 302, automatic, a/c( unknown if working), p/s, manual drum brakes. he says it needs paint because the last guy that painted it used the wrong primer and its all bubbling up. and it needs a windsheild he also said it needs a few suspension parts but its drivable. the interior is supposedly redone except the headline. he wants $5,000 but openly admited he would concider $4,000. so should i go for it? i do like these stangs. I have a 73 convertible with a 351c so it would be kinda neat to have a fastback too. what you guys think? is he asking too much? too little? just wanted to see what you guys think before i make the drive to go see this thing

i owuld say at least go look at the car. i personally am not impressed with the 71-73 fastbacks, too hard to see what is going on behind you, but they are nice cars. i say if you like it, and feel the price is right, go for it.

Purchases like that are always a personall call. I personally would never buy a classic mustang past 1970. 71-73 mustangs even in great condition just do not bring the prices anddo not have the same value for the investment as other mustangs do. Return on my investment has always been the big factor for me when buying anything.

I say go look at the car and inspect and drive it. It may be a good deal, if it is what he says. As far as 71-73 Mustangs go, the sport roof / fastback is my favorite.
