Okay, so a guy I work with is a big Mustang guy like me. He has an 89 Lx hatchback roller, it has no motor or trans. because he had to sell it due to kids/life stuff. The car has a full steeda suspension under it, car is super clean, and has all the harnesses and everything for EFI. Has a BBK fuel pump, extra injectors/mafs, basically a ton of good parts. I asked him if he would sell it, and he said he probably would to me for 1500 if I really wanted it.

Now I been wanting to swap my coupe over to EFI now, been gathering parts slowly to do it. This car would have everything I need, plus some nice suspension stuff... Tubular k member/coil overs, upper and lower control arms, pretty much the full steeda setup. Now here is the question...

Would you swap all the stuff over to the 1980 coupe, or would you keep the 89 LX hatchback how it is and drop a motor and trans. in it? The LX is pretty much ready to go.. but I love my coupe, and you don't see very many of mine around anymore in as good as shape as its in..

I was thinking I could:

A) Swap over all the EFI stuff I need, along with the suspension stuff. Put my stock stuff back in the car and sell it as a roller..

B) Keep the car, eventually put a motor and trans in it and have both cars.

C) Swap over my 5 lug and cobra brakes from my car to the LX, and sell my car, then save for a motor and trans. and drop that in..

What would YOU do?

I would keep the coupe. Swap all the goodies from the LX to your coupe. Then part out the LX and make some of that money back.

Definitely "A". Keep the 4-eye! If you have 2 of these cars, usually one always takes a back burner to the other, anyway. Or, you try to divide money between them and neither one is ever as nice as you'd like it.

By the way...

Pics of both cars!!!!

A) Swap over all the EFI stuff I need, along with the suspension stuff. Put my stock stuff back in the car and KEEP the roller... put an engine in it later.

just me here, but i would pass on it. With that kind of cash you could have your car swapped to efi and be on your merry.

Keep the coupe, swap over the goodies from the roller, install what you take off the coupe onto the roller, find a decent running junkyard engine for the roller, get it driving and sell it for major profit and free parts.

Thats not a bad idea.. I would just have to get a few items I was gonna snag off the car from the local junkyard..

I don't pictures of the LX, I have a few pics of the coupe.. I can post them if you would like. None of the pictures has the lowering springs/cobra brakes/sn95 spindles on though, so it kinda looks funny haha

Put all the good parts on the coupe , use what you took off the coupe on the hatch until you figure out if you want to put a drivetrain in it or sell it off.

If the car is that nice, you can probably swap over all the parts and make the hatch all stock and still resell it as a roller for what you pay for it with all the parts. You can probably make out of this deal not having spent anything but time and labor and walk away with a bunch of free parts. I still think you could put a stock engine in it and make an easy grand off it if not more.
