what year escorts had mustang seats!

hey guys .. got a bad tear in my 85 gt seat ( gey ones with red piping..)and i cant find a new one .. and are pricey if i can.. getting the one i have fixed is going to START at 150 quoted that by the only interior place i could find in the area.. but i read in a book the other day that these seats also came in escort gt's and exp's.. and i got to thinking wait my sister had an escort gt and my brother had an exp.. im pretty sure they did have those seats!! so maybe i could find some ina junkyard... soooooo doea anyone no specifically what year these seats came in these cars.. i dont wanna waste my time calling around if i dont no exactly what im looking for... sooo can anyone help me out!? !

no year escort had the red piping mustang seats. The seats that did are completely different than mustang seats..

halo seats are easy to come by.. i've come by atleast 3 sets.. and have the old set out of my 85 (soon to be in the junkyard scrap pile).. be interesting to see in a notchback heh

the old EXP's had halo's if i remember correctly. a few years later you could get red piping to break up the seats if you had a GT

mustang and escort seats are not the same, just the old escort GT's had similar upholstry with the red piping

the seats arent interchangeable

here is a tasty bit of info. some turbo coupes had the same seats as the halo seats from the 85 & 86 stangs in many different colors they just diddnt have the halo headrest. And the cougar seats are the same as the 87+ Gt seats just in leather and other styles of fabric but not in tweed..

are you guys SURE or guessing? nott hat im saying i dont believe you.. but this book on fox body's i found at the book store claims some of those exps and gt's had the exact same seats.. just doesnt say what year..says u can get 85-86 mustang gt seats out of them ...

Im 100% positive.. The escort gt and exp seats are simmilar to the mustang GT seats but they are definately not the same..

i am absolutely sure they are NOT the exact same seats. they are very similar but not the same. i think the backs may be the same but the bottoms/rails certianly are not here are some pics:

hmm well your right they arent the same.. interesting the back does look the EXACT same..if it had the red piping.. but thats the part i need anyways...if i find one in a junkyard can i take the back of and put it on my stang seat since that is what is ripped?

based on what i can see in pics, they appear to be identical, as do the reclining lever so one could assume that the odds of the mechanisms being the same are pretty good...

worth a shot id say
