I have got mixed thoughts on what year explorer heads and intake fit the 5.0 motor. I need a bolt on intake and heads. I was told that only the '96 bolts on then i was told that only '99 bolts on. Can anyone help me?

You want the 96 heads and intake.

Both will bolt on directly.

The '96 and early-'97 intakes have the internal EGR provision like your stock manifold which is necessary if you want to remain smog compliant.

The mid-'97 and up intakes used an external EGR system and are therefore not cast to retrofit your current EGR hardware. As such, your EGR would not fuction.

Also, keep in mind you will have to drill and tap the #5 runner in the Explorer lower intake to retrofit your stock manifolds ACT sensor. Not a big job, but necessary if you want to instal the sensor in the factory location.
