What year is my c4 and how many teeth does my flexplate have?

I need to get a new 50oz flywheel for my c4 as part of my engine build. I need to identify the c4 I have. It has the following printed on the top of the transmission:

157 tooth. All you had to do was count the teeth.

Yeah I was pretty sure that you could determine it from the housing. And I was sure I'd muck up counting the teeth.

Do you know what year it is?

Not the casting numbers, sounds like the serial numbers from the car it was installed in at the factory.

Casting numbers will start with a letter, ( C for 1960's, D for 1970's, and so on). The next place will be a digit designating the year. So C6 would be 1966, C7 is 1967, and so on.

I'm surprised you didn't break the bellhousing pulling it with a chain like that. It would have been much easier if you just pulled it out from the bottom.

Look on the outside of the front servo cover for a casting date. Mine had a "67" date cast into the cover which would fit the build date of my 1968 Mustang. Its the cover you see in your first photo.
