My car still has it's entire interior in it except the stereo. Carpet, interior panels, heater, etc. All still there. If I wanted to take some weight out, it would be nothing to get it in to the 28xx range.
I didn't go to any great lengths to make my car any lighter and the windsor doesn't carry enough extra weight to give a hoot about. after the aluminum heads, I'm pretty sure it breaks even with an iron headed 302. I can't see there being a 95lbs difference. The block is like an extra 20lbs and even though it's a stroker, the crank doesn't weigh 3x more
With the tubular suspension, trunk mounted battery etc....my handling isn't exactly suffering either. Unless you are making a purpouse built road course car, the windsor's greater cubes is > than the 302's weight advantage. I'll gladly trade an extra 1.5-2% over all weight of my car for an extra 15%+ displacement advantage. Seems like a no-brainer.

It’s fine if you don’t have a problem with it, but me being in my early-30’s, I certainly wouldn’t consider giving up my creature comforts or smog legality in any street car to improve handling, just to shave off a few pounds that really don’t need to be there in the first place. Either way, it although it was quite a performer compared to the stock GT of that era and most certainly one of the coolest Stangs built in the last 30-years, it isn’t really considered anything special handling or performance wise by today’s standards? I mean…what did it run.....mid-13’s?
