The water pump on my 93 5.0 needs to be replaced and I'm looking to pick up a new one hopefully tomorrow. What water pump would you guys recommend for a stock engine? Are any specific brands better quality than others? I tend to stay away from remanufactured parts. I'm just looking for something that I won't have problems with shortly after I install it. A pump I can pick up at a Pep Boys/Autozone/etc is preferred but I will order online for a good quality pump.

I replaced my water pump today and lower rad hose (on my 93GT). I can't believe it only took an hour!

The local Baxter Auto had two choices: Reman and new. 29 or 59 bucks. I bought new. Why? I guess I feel reman = redo in a year. :D I have not had good eperiences with reman parts....maybe its just me.

Oh well. I aslo learned today that there was no core charge on a new water pump. Why? Seems odd.

For stock, buy cheaperst you can afford. Also, get some anti-sieze and get in on the studs and bolts. It will help for future removal and cut down on the corrosion factor.

Have fun.

I wont touch any pep boys remanufactured part ever again. I have had no luck w/ there starters or alteranators in the past. I guess they use cheap rebuilds. Nothing like installing 2 alternators in the same night to get one good out of it. Its always a project w/ pep boys goods for me anyhow.
