What's a proper way to do a Powershift?

I was thinking of doing this once next time at 1/4 track :)

anyhow, when powershifting, you don't ever let go of the gas correct? If so, don't you hit the rev limiter between shift? Especially when you shift at 5K+ rpm.. And what will happen exatcly when you hit the limiter?

Can anyone clear that up for me and tell me the proper way to do it?

That's what the limiter's there for. ;)

Pedal to the metal and don't even think about letting up. I find it's faster to shift if you take your leg and "hover" it above the clutch pedal. Don't rest your heel or anything on the floor. Do this and then "stab" at the clutch pedal as fast as you can, while banging it into the next gear.

Drive the car like you hate it, you'll suprise yourself when you see the ET's. :nice:

what would happen if you hit the rev limiter? nothing? It just stay at the highest rpm?

It'll scare you the first time you hit the rev limiter if you've never done it. It sounds like you're blowing the damn thing up. After that you'll find yourself powershifting all the time, you can really spin second pretty good on the street with a good powershift!!! :) :nice:

yeah... you won't hit the limiter if you shift at 5k.. I think the limiter is around 6200 rpm's... you might hit 5800-6000 the most..

just shift fast and you won't have any problems, it only takes a split second to shift fast... your rpm's should only fluctuate maybe 300 rpm's if your doing it right..

It will bounce off the limiter, drop 50-100RPMs, then come up and bounce off again. This will happen several times a second if you keep your foot on the throttle. Banging the limiter a few times shouldn't hurt anything, just don't sit in a parking lot and hold the gas down for 5 minutes straight. :D
