I spent several hours with Tremec tech support about this official recommendation and almost ruined my tranny following it. In the northeast, once it gets cold, the dex will cause grinding.I switched to a full syn atf and the tranny is smoothe as silk. Use non syn Dex at your own risk.

its funny theres no SSM, TSB or FSA/Recall about this problem. must not be a common problem.
ford hasnt updated their online manuals as well, which they do on a regularly basis

I've been running with Dexron III for almost 30,000 miles now with no grinding whatsoever, and replacing (lowering) the factory fill with it eliminated an occasional third gear lockout I experienced with my 3650. I have used the car as a daily driver in temps as low as single digits with no transmission issues since changing the fluid.

I just changed to Royal Purple Synchromax. Shifts even smoother than when the Mobil 1 atf was in there even when cold. I know that Tremec doesn't "recommend" using this, but I went with it anyway and am happy I did. With the 3650 you'll need 4 quarts. It won't run out the hole, but according to the manual the tranny needs 3.7 liters to be full. Since a quart is .945 liters I just did the math.
i'm going to try this stuff, if i dont like it i'm blaming u ok:mad: :nice:
