100k miles is nothing if the car was taken care of. Honestly I think that gt you posted would be a better value than the LX. Not because the insurance or appraisal companies think so, but because more people are after the gt look with the ground effects. Honestly I would run a carfax on the GT, if its clean show him 4500 cash, not a cashiers check or a money order, crisp clean 100 dollar bills. Tell him you have the money and you are ready to walk and I will promise that he bites.

Being a GT or an LX doesn't really affect the value of the car when you're talking about Foxes. If it's a V8, it's a V8. Lots of insurance companies won't even distinguish between the two, because the only real difference is looks. The value difference is nil.

The year doesn't really matter either. Both cars are roughly 20 years old. Mileage and condition are more critical at that point.

i differ on the looks. the looks is a personal thing if you are not into speed. GTs just have a better apperance in my opinion. better to get as close as you want or else you'll just be spending more to get it there.

I'd check for rust like was said.

tires and rubber hoses will rott and crack over time. run the car till its on the hot operating temp. then check under the hood and car again.


think of your goals, a starting point and what you plan to do then it won't matter if the engine is shot if you going to crate it anyways right?

Totally off-topic and just an observation, but there have always been two camps regarding the Fox 5.0-- some like the clean LX lines, others the more "equipped" GT.

You'll easily find fans of both, and there is no difference on values from my experience.

i agree with the age and condition value is in the eye of the beholder.

What i was trying to say is that if you like one look get that look. cause it just cost money to make it what you want it to be in the long run.

5k is what you pay for a near perfect fox with miles. not for a fixer uper with bad paint.

3k is as far as I would go on a project car(by the time you are done that 3k dollar car turns into a 5-7k dollar car). If I am going to shell out 5k, I would just add another 2-3k and go find a much nicer car that needs absolutely no work.
