im in the market for a 90 5.0 speed...... problem is i have no clue what its worth..... and im in car sales haha.

anyways, its a very clean car. never driven in winters. 68,000 hard but well cared for miles on the original motor. flow masters. lowered 2 inches maybe? pretty dam low though. it has a set or rims 3bar rims on it. brand new tires. cloth interior is in very nice condition. car has been repainted once, very nicely done though. its the like royal blue color. no rust what so ever except for what im told is a "typical" spot where the hatch meets the wing on the back right corner of the car. needs brakes badely. has a clutch like a dump truck.

problem is..... i dont know what its worth. i was a professional detailer befor i got into sales. and i know what this thing will look like when i buff it out and blow out the interior. but i still dont know what its worth. i know what the guy is asking and i know what the book tells me..... but i still just dont know.

so can someone shoot me a price of what your opinion of fair value on a car like this is.

thanks.

it's worth what you are willing to pay for it and not a penny more. if the number the guy is telling you sounds fair then go for it. These cars usually book for lower than they sell for so start there and haggle to the price you want.

i know its worth what im willing to pay for it. but its kinda a weird situation. its a friends car and he has bought and sold it 3 times in his life now for different reasons. now he just wants it gone cuase he has not driven the car in about the past 6 years and is tired of paying insurance on it. reason he was haning onto it was to give to his son when he turned 16. well he doesnt feel comfortable putting a 16 year old in a car like that anymore. so i dont wanna low ball him but i dont wanna over pay for the car. i realize they sell for more than what the book lists them at. thats why i made this post cuase i dont have a clue really.

ill snap some pictures today and post them

PICS would be nice, but IMO at least around here, foxes are kind of name your own price. If you have something clean, weather it's original or not, you shouldn't have any trouble getting at least 5K or more for it. I wouldn't sell my 91 notch for under 7,500. Some say it's not worth it, because it's a 4cyl car to 5.0L swap, but I wouldn't sell it for less, because I couldn't find one like it for that much. I could prolly find one for double....but those are usually carbed, caged, welds, etc....I don't like that stuff.

If it truly has 68k I'd go $5000 or under. You loose those wheels, window guards, rear window thing, tailpipes through bumper rearend and you'll have a nice car. Deduct for a disgusting under hood presentation, the other goofy crap you'll have to remove and a repaint-job and your at $4000-$5000 worth of value. You can buy decent cars in that range.

haha..... i actually like the way the car looks as it sits.

normally i would agree with you guys on the rims but for some reason i like them. As for the rear window thing i like that too. oh and the cut out bumper. ya under the hood is dirty but like i said. the car has been sitting for about 8 years and nothing has been done to it in that time. it just wants to get rid of it at this point.but thats just me i guess.

any more opinions???

you guys are helping alot..... i appreciate it

5K is fair if it didn't have those dumb wheels and the bumper cut out, and the extra window spoiler thingy. How is the paint? It definately looks repainted, so how does it look?

I would give 5K for that car if it didn't have that stuff.

Also, the engine bay just needs a good detail, and the interior looks mint. Try and get it for 4-4,500 because you need a set of 16" Pony wheels and tires, which will cost you around 500ish.

paint is nice...... just needs a good buff. and like i said i was a professional detailer for 3 years so i know how the car will clean up. interior is pretty close to mint.

He wasnts $5500 for it and that is down from $7500..... which i knew was high but like i said..... there are reasons why he was trying to get that much for it. mainly that he had to pay his ex wife $10k for the car about 9 years ago to get it back in his possesion. and hes a really close friend so i dont wanna beat him up to much on the price but i have to look out for myself as well.

I like chrome rims though..... do the pony rims come in chrome?

if he was that good of a friend he wouldnt want to beat you up on the price either.

the rear bumper is trashed, cutting the bumper is so trashy, the nice way to do it is a get a 93 cobra bumper which is designed for tail pipes, those wheels are horrible and yeah, lose all the window crap and it might be a nice car.

dont spend to much of your money on feelings, let someone else be the a hole to buy it for 4K then your buddy wont bust your balls about it

you have to realize, you're posting on a mustang-specific forum, everyone on here loves these cars with a passion and has very specific opinions about what looks good and what looks like total crap, you'll be hard pressed to find someone on here who likes that bumper cut out or the window guards... but if YOU like the car and can afford it, and can help out a friend in need in the process, then go for it, just dont get bent over yourself while you're trying not to bend him over, get a carfax on the car and have it looked at by a mechanic, then pay what you feel is fair once you now what you're getting yourself into

Its called having taste dude, if you cant take peoples honest opinions dont ask for them. Youre not going to find anyone who is really into mustangs that wont say that bumper doesnt look like absolute trash. And, yes the wheels look cheap, because guess what, they are cheap wheels. Sorry that Im honest.

I'm with S&B on this one. With the miles I was thinking more about 5k, but after seeing the car, I'd offer $4000 and negotiate from there.
