Whats needed to install head unit (97 GT)

Hey guys. What is needed to install a CD head unit into a 97 GT? I have the base stereo, not Mach 460. I will probably need a wiring harness right? How hard is it to actually switch them out?

You should just need the wiring harness. Usually you can just go up to a Best Buy or Circuit City and tell them what car you have. That's one thing they're good for.

The swap is pretty simple....basically just connecting up the new harness and plugging it and the antenna in.

Yeah, I've swapped head units before but its been a couple years. Any idea how much the harnesses usually cost?

Since you have only the base stereo, they only cost like $5-6. You can just get the scosche ones at wal-mart.

It's fairly easy, just remember to hook up your rca lines before you install the stereo
