What's that smell?

I noticed that when i'm at stop signs\lights, people behind my '87 Stang roll up their windows and pinch their noses...

My car does project a strong burnt gasoline smell...

Is that in some way normal?

Here is the set-up:

650 carb,
al. heads and intake,
E-303 stick,
ported everything...

Any advices to be less painful to others welcomed!!

Cars without functioning cat converters put out stinky exhaust. It's a symptom of the air pollution you are creating...

Put some Magnaflow Spun-Metallic cats in your h-pipe and be done with it.

All catalytic converters rely on EFI to lean out the mixture so that they operate at maximum efficiency and don't coke up and clog. No computer, no automatic mixture control.

So i guess there's not much i can do then?

I even have custom mufflers on, just barely street legal, that the previous owner had had made for the car...

Btw, the temp here in Qc right now is absolutely the best to get max performance from our motors...wow! Hate winter but love autumn!!!
