Whats the best bang for the buck performance mod?

I just got a noticable seat of the pants gain by swapping my stock H pipe out for a UPR catless X...:nice:

Pretty sure im gonna try the RPM/BBK ported plenum and 75mm throttle body combo next.

Im dubbing this car project cheap speed parts, haha.

200 dollar light mod would be c.a.i. and pulleys.

400-500 would be catted x pipe. or 4.10s.

the gears are lovey and the piping opened and smoothed out my power.

200 dollar springs are the cheapest def noticable mod.

i have an off road x if interested..... cheap.. 100 bucks......

you just yanked the 2 biggest baddest mods out there, why exclude them? is it money? or are you worried about blowing up your motor?
you want go fast, you aren't going to get too much without spending big bucks....
Want to stay N/a then you need ported heads and cams

Do some research.

But from what I found.
Upper plenum @ 5-10rwhp -- $80-200+
TB - @ 1-5rwhp Only problem most do the plenum and TB at the same time --$80-150+
OR midpipe @ 10-15 rwhp -- $120-400+
Headers @ 15-30 LT 5-20shorties -- $ 200-800
tune @1-30rwhp (see below) -- $$ too many varaibles
Cams @ 20-40rwhp (see below) -- $400-700
heads @ 20-40rwhp (To see the most H/C/T)-- $1100-2k
Pullies @ 0-10rwhp -- $ 100-200

Gears @ 0 but fun factor through the roof -- $200 + instal + fluids

Nitrous @100+rwhp -- @1k for a safe setup with all the safety goodies

Blower @ 100+rwhp --- @ 3-8k for a full setup.

i think he means bang for the buck bolt on... id say either a midpipe or a gear... but no matter what get a new shifter if its a 5 speed.
Yeah but we all know bolt-on's really don't do jack for our cars.

and since he said

What kind of hp/tq can I expect from that? (dyno proven?)

best bang for the buck - to me that translates into how many RWHP per dollar spend.

And for dollars spend an OR pipe is hard to beat.

LT's are the best bang for buck. I picked up a set of used ceramic coated ones for $330 bucks shipped WITH midpipe!

Blower is gonna be the best big money bang for buck. I picked up 120rwhp from stock, now I should be right around 200rwhp above stock with intake junk + longtubes + 11psi.

shifter. i dont care if its not a power mod, if you are griding gears it doesnt make a lick of difference if you have 500hp against a honda... cant shift to second? well, the honda will eventually pass you.

Eh, I was in the same boat this guy was, and I went with a shifter first. I wasnt dissapointed but I would have gone with something that was gonna make some power first.

Dont get me wrong, a short throw shifter is a great mod, but if you are a good shifter there are other places to start when modding a car.

If you need some help or improvment on shifting, than I definatly agree with getting one first.

VT Stage 2 N/A cams!!!

I honestly would love to have gone the FI route.. but I know I would also have to have cams because I love them so much. Not only because of the power but because of the reaction I get out of people :D

dyno proven? here's my dyno sheet. Red line is with CAI, LT's, O/R X, cat-back, 75mm tb and plenum. Blue line is VT Stage 2's, 4.10 gears, and U/D pulleys added. The main thing to notice is how it pulls up top, makes it a completely differen't car.
