I'm looking at possibly getting one of these big block cars and there is a couple 67 galaxies fairly close to me with 390s in them. Are fairlanes and galaxie pretty much the same? I've always had my eye one a friends uncle's 66 fairlane but he'll never sell it.

The Galaxie is a bigger car with a different front and rear suspension. Also has a full frame under it, the Fairlanes were Unibody cars like the Stangs. The drawback is they're bigger and heavier, on the plus side, they're FAR easier to work on than a big block Stang or Fairlane. I've got Merc's cousin to the Galaxie, a 68 Merc Monterey, 2 door fastback. With it's mildly built up 390 , it runs 14 sec. 1/4's. Motor is completely stock, just added a Crane cam, FPA headers, a factory 428PI aluminum intake, topped with a 750 Holley.
