What's the Problem??

If it does not smell it may just be the ac condensate drain plugged up.
If it smells, like coolant, odds are 100 in 100 that it is the heater core.
Fun and games. I set a new personal best last week, changed one in 5 hours 33 minutes! The race shop guys up the road get $400 for changing them.

Basically, unless you are a chinese midget with double joints, you will have to loosen and 1/2 remove the entire dash to get at the heater core which is located way up under the dash near the windshield. The part itself is less than $20-$30 but the labor is what is expensive. You can bypass it if you desire, but you will have no heat.. (no joy kill here in Texas).

Found someone to do it for me last week. $200. Then again I don't have A/C. If you do? Double, if not tripple the cost. I've done everything else to this car myself, this is the one job I found someone else to do it for me. A real ball buster. I think when Ford designs cars they start with the heater core, then build the car around it.

Muscle mustangs and fast fords have a "how to" on their web site where you do not have to release your a/c in to the clear blue. Go to the web site and do a search for heater core. I changed mine and if i can do it anybody can.

i think my core is clogged or somehtin, dont leak, but it get hot if i have it off and i drive for like 15 minutes, than i turn it on and its hot for about 2 minutes, than it slowely gets colder and colder than i have to shut it off and wait for another 15 mintues - thank god its not cold here nemore

It sounds like your core is clogged. All you should have to do is reverse-flush the heater core.
Drain the coolant, then disconnect the two heater core hoses from the firewall. [NOTE: There are several less messy and more proper ways to do this, i.e., female garen hose fittings clamped onto the hoses, etc., but i did it quick and messy
]
Anyway, I held a garden hose up to each side of the hose (individually, of course) and surged water through the heater core until it came out the other side clear, then switched back and forth between each side until both ran clear.
Re-connect, fill-er-up, run her hot, top off, check for air pockets, and voila!

I do plan on getting an A/C delete kit. Does that have anything to do with this? And I would definietly have someone do the heater core.Fishhawk said:Found someone to do it for me last week. $200.
