What's this 9-inch rear end worth?

It's from a '67 or later Ford, it fits 65-66 Mustangs, but is a little wide. Open differential, highway gears, 28-spline, small bearing, drum brakes, needs new center gasket and axle seals. A friend said it's only worth about 50-75 dollars. What do you think?

depends. if it was one from a 65/66 or late 50s that is the same size (57") ive seen them sell on ebay for 400-500 cause they are rairer. yeah that one fits but it will push each wheel out in 1". the senter section is worth what your fiend said, the rest depends on the buyer i guess. the only thing of value would be the housing unless it had a N case.

If it was a 67 to 70 9" it would still have some value. They're not too abundant either. I would guess at about $300.00. Just depends on who wants it and how bad. A lot of people still want 9" rears in those too. If it a 71 or up the value would be less.

How could I find out what year it is without a tag? Would measuring flange to flange and matching that against a chart be the only way?

yes measure from axle flange to axle flange or housing flange to housing flange. then measure the distance between the perches and compare to see.

OK, I measured it today. The perches are 43 CTC and the length of the housing is 53.5 BPTBP. So, it must be from a 67-70 Mustang or Cougar. Should be worth more than 75 dollars. It's going on fleaBay tonight!

You will get more than that on the "bay"
