amnit: my car sounds like something is popping, or clanking, or something that almost sounds like (now inagine this sound) the aluminum plate on the bellhousing being pryed away and snapping back onto the steel. It sounds like it could be coming from the back of the engine but im not sure. Its definately low and centered sounding, and it takes away from the power of the engine. This usually happens just above 2k rpms, but happens elsewhere also. It doesnt always happen either, it just comes and goes. Please help me try to figure this out. Could it be the 87 octane gas? Thanks everyone

My guess is a rocker arm but I could never tell you for sure. Does it sound like somethings jumping around in your upper intake? and How's your oil pressure?

i dont think its something in my upper intake because it sounds like its lower than that. Why do you ask that? What could possibly be in there?

i doubt that, but if thats the case, you'd need to pull the DS and the trans- but if it's a rocker, you'd hear it about 2000 times per minute, is that the case? if you can tell it's a snap, maybe it's your wheel catching something when you turn - we need more info

its not a quick repetitive sound, if i go any more than about a third throttle, it makes a clanking sound that maybe could be the sound of detonation in the header(but they dont get real hot), it is more like 1 time per second maybe every 2 seconds while im giving it gas

Does it sound like a little person is smashing inside the lifter galley with a hammer lol When my lifters were going, it made a noise just like that only at 3/4 throttle and kept getting worse everntually it got to anything over 1/4 throttle. Another good noise example of mine is if the header was smacking the firewall, i thought thats what it was but it wasnt.

i had a sound something like that, turned out to be a U-joint. It could be a throw out bearing to, had that happen, made a hideous sound, the bearing went dry and ate itself up, took about four weeks though. The throw out bearing that comes with the King Cobra clutch is all but usless, it a piece of **** IMO, good clutch, bad bearing.

its a mcloed clutch, and i was reading the other post about someones misfire problem which sounded just like my problem as he explained it, so im going to check if theyre platinum plugs and switch to autolite, and hopefully that will help

Do you have cats on the car? If so, the material inside can break up and rattle around in the can.

Sounds to me like your timing is up too high possibly.

You say you are runnig 87 octane. What is your timing set at?

i dont know what the timing is at, but i can run higher octane and see if that makes a difference. The tanks almost empty now anyway

maybe bad detonation. If your fuel pump is going bad or you have a clogged filter it could be detonating.
