This keeps coming loose, the bolts and wondering if I need to replace it. Could it cause a nasty vibration upon accelerating if it is coming loose all the time?

That is a weight attached to your diff meant to dampen vibrations from the driveline.

So if it's loose it will cause a vibration? Only happens when accelerating and gets worse the harder I hit the gas

Well, yes, and no. If it comes loose it will not cause a vibration, it is probably coming loose because of a vibration so when loose you will feel it. You need to investigate the cause of the vibration and check the bolts and threads on that damper, use locktite on the bolts.

Well the bolts are tight it's just loose, my guess the bushings are shot. I took it off and it does vibrate but not nearly as bad. Think I just need to replace it but can't seem to find one new so far. Any ideas?

Many just ditch the damper, the important thing is to find and fix the vibration

No.

I would like to hear a lot more about the car symptoms though. Your approach in this thread so far, has been to find validation for your own theories. This may be the wrong approach.

Instead, give us a full description of what you have going on. plus any mods or work that have been done to the car. Pictures and videos are gold. Try to avoid describing what you think is going on but be detailed about what you can actually see, feel, and hear.

check u joints, then check that the driveshaft bolts are tight.

U joints/shaft are solid. Unfortunately a video isnt going to be helpful cuz it's more of a feeling than a sound. I've had the car a year and never had this issue up until 2 weeks ago. It's had 3.73 gears for years now. I've taken it to a few shops and all say something different. Wheel bearing, motor mount rear diff are what I've gotten so far. Mounts appear in good shape. Rear wheel bearing I'm not so sure that's the issue cuz this happens on accelerating and if I understand wheel bearings correctly it would make the vibration/sound all the time. Rear diff? I have no idea what to even look for, not familiar with those since I've mainly had fwd cars.

do you feel it in the seat? steering wheel? shifter? does it vibrate when revved in neutral?

More just in the seat. The other day the steering wheel was jumping up and down it was so bad. But today since I removed the damper its not nearly as bad and steering wheel is normal. Nothing when coasting or revving just under accelerating under moderate throttle. Shifter, again not as bad since removing damper

ok steering wheel means that it is in the front suspension. could be transferred to the wheel from somewhere else however, what happens when you coast with the transmission in neutral?

No vibration at all. Haha, it's an odd situation that only when driving do you get what's going on. Even with techs in the car they can only guess without tearing into things and costing God knows how much in labor charges just to try and find out the issue

Ok, here's some things I would do considering that I am not driving this car and limited info that can be had without the actual ride and drive experience and visual checks that can be done in person.
Starting with the small dollar fixs and see what happens will lead to more expensive repairs,
Have the wheels/tires balanced, some places can balance them on the car and may reveal where the problem is.
Drive shaft balanced, if you don't know the age of the u joints it's a good idea to replace them anyway.
Motor and trans mounts, they may look ok, take a jack and see how much movement they have.
You also could dropping a cylinder, harmonic balancer old and has slipped, the list goes on.
Now that being said, take that damper off the rear and see what happens or have you already done that

I took off the damper this morning and seemed to help. Still does it but not as bad now which from what I read can cause a vibration.

Steering wheel was moving up and down when accelerating. Like a thumping, clearly visible but hasn't done it since

What method did you use to determine that the u-joints are "solid"?
