Whats this sound coming from the engine?

I have 96 V6 just changed the oil, had 5w 30 Mobil 1 they said 5w 20 (Castrol got it for free) would be fine I put that oil in started making a faint tapping sound switched to 5w 30 Mobile 1 extended performance sound still there any one have any idea of what it could be? Probably might take it to a mechanic on the weekend. My poor pony
