And no its not Jimmy Hoffia...lol On 93 GT convertible under the passegner seat looks to be and amp is that for the factory radio..If im taking the stock radio out can i discoonect that? remove it totally? Thanks....

when changing to an aftermarket radio what is the procedure on disconnecting the oem amp to the after market radio...Can i take the amp out hook up the new radio by using a harness kit to the speakers from the new radio to the old radio harness, will the speakers work or do i need to splice the speaker wires together that were by the amp?

Thanks for the link but its older so no pictures show up on the stock amp..I want to take the amp out totally from under the saet and but in powered Blaupunkt 8 in sub...Im lost tho...lol if i disconect the amp how do i get the speaker to work..by wiring them into the radio with a wiring kit?...and using the new radios amp to power the speakers? if so if you disconect the factory amp im sure the speakers wont work right? see im lost....lol

when i put in my aftermarket cd player i had to take out my factory amp. it was behind the dash tho. but i did have to buy a dash kit and wiring harness for the cd player

I understand disconnecting it but if you do dont some speakers stop working? Wouldnt you have to connect those wires back up if it goes into the amp then out of the amp back to the radio if you just take the connected wires and hook them up then the speakers should work..Mine is under my seat..I want to put a Blaupunkt 8 inch self contained.sub under the passenger seat so i need to take the amp out for room purposes...plus im putting in a new head unit too....

looking for some help
just pickup a 93 lx 4cl a/t rollup windows
the radio doesnt make any sound .it powers up
i removed the radio has 1 small square plug and 1 long retangular plug
doesnt look like any used ones i see on ebay
what am i missing

Does mine have an amp, it's a 91, all I did was bought the new cd player and wiring harness adapter and plugged it in after I removed the stock player:shrug: mine works great.

In my 92 LX ,the amp is directly behind the factory radio.I slid in a Pioneer unit I had lying around.Didn't bother with the rewire. There's a popping noise whenever it gets turned on and also when the key is switched on.The amp seems to always be on regardless of the radio power.

You sure that's an amp under the seat?
