I know every body always asks when it is coiming out, but I have waited to to damn long for the BBK intake manifold. The BBk site shows it but I can't find a single dealer that advertises it, not even Summit. That sucks because I'm going to Hot August Nights next Saturday, Summit has a 10% off sale for the event and I figured if I was drunk or high enough I would end up buying it. Does anybody have any info on it.

sounds good I was just at the site and I didn't see it, but I'll take your word for it, that probably means that summit has it, I guess we'll see how my weekend goes.
BTW do you know if that price inludes the fuel rails?

This is from the new products section of the bbk website:
1986-93 5.0L MUSTANG SSI-SERIES INTAKE MANIFOLD
• Adds 18-35 horsepower over the factory manifold
• Features unique open runner high-flow lower manifold
• High torque twin plenum upper intake
• Standard high-flow aluminum fuel rails included
• Standard 75mm throttle body opening
• Built-in EGR spacer

So the price probably does include the fuel rails, since bbk includes them in their package.

i believe it will make good times because ever runner gets equal air!!!! and think about it bbk made a good point........ all of the intakes now all have years and years of carb experiance so that is why they arnt the best but bbk on the other hand.....................only does E.F.I........im gonna run it for 570 with rails that will put up with 2000 hp it is a deal im a buyer........................

5.0 Mustangs & Super Fords tested a pre-production unit. Click Here

Results were not that spectacular in my opinion. Hard to say though, their was much debate here about the test engine/car. Many felt the car was not very representative of the real world.

I think it has potential, but availablity keeps getting pushed back. I see it'll be available in June/July now. I suspect they are tweeking it to deliver better results. It's not really a stand out intake as it was tested.

I just re-read the article. He's the scoop....in my opinion.....

BBK intake was not much better than the stock intake on the test car used until rpm got up into the upper ranges. The numbers the car made at the rear wheels were weak for the car having Performer RPM cylinder heads. Another observation that escaped me the first time is the stock intake used a stock throttle body and the BBK intake used a 75mm Throttle body and barely bettered the stock intake till the upper ranges.

For the same kind of money you can buy a Holley SystemMax II or TrickFlow or a Perf RPM II or a GT40 and get better results.

I've been reading a lot about intakes lately. And it looks like for the best balence of torque and horsepower, you still can't beat factory engineering. The GT40 is king for balenced power production.

Holley, TF and RPM II are next in line in any order. They all equal or exceed the hp that the GT40 makes, but they all give up (sometimes a lot of) torque in the low end where you need/use it on the street. Read this article to see a comparison of these intakes.

thanks for the links. sounds like I may just get a GT40 instead. I mainly want low end torque instead of high end hp.

I feel the same way about torque. I am seriously thinking GT40 as well.

I'm not impressed by this intake, either. It advertises that it flows an equal amount of air to every cylinder, but that's pretty much impossible given the characteristics. Too many 90 degree bends, and it's obvious cylinders 5 and 8 are getting starved. It would be good if it had a second throttle body on the other side to give it quasi-equal flow, because right now it's just bad. Unless there's actual dyno numbers on a bone stock car to back it up, and/or the price comes down to $300, I am definitely not even considering it.
