What's wrong with my Brakes?

Okay, first of all, when I push on the brake pedal, everything seems fine and then as I start to feather off it at a stop there is a grinding metal sensation I feel through the pedal and then it just kind of slips and the car moves a couple of feet more than it should. The ony way I can avoid this is to press hard on the pedal for like a "NASCAR" style stop. Anyway, I've even hooked us a vacuum canister and that doesn't help, so I don't think its a vacuum problem. Here is the current break set up:
Cobra 2K Brembos in front - cobra vented kit in rear; SS lines all around. Brand new pads and rotors all around.

BTW, I was having the SAME problem before the new rotors/pads and cobra rear upgrade...

I would have to vote master cylinder or a bleeding problem too, it almost sounds like you are trying to say your brakes are very touchy... like a little pressure does nothing, then with a little more the car hauls to a stop...

Actually, perhaps my description was off a bit.. the brakes act normal for the most part. When I pull to a stop (as I think is true of most people) I ease into the brake, and then off a bit as I'm coming to a complete stop, this keeps the stop from being jolting. No extra force is needed...its just that as I ease off, there is that grinding/rubbing sensation felt through the pedal and the car seems to go another foot or two instead of stopping right there. Otherwise it acts pretty normal...

I don't thinks its a bleeding issue..is there any way to test a MC?
