My car has a squeeling sound coming from under the hood and is leaking small amounts of an orange/yellow fluid on the garage floor. It just started the squeeling about 4 days ago and the leak maybe 3 days before that. I am taking it to the dealer tuesday but would like to know what it is before so that they don't mess something up trying to find the problem. The car has 44,000 miles on it. Any help would be appreciated.

i would think its either the water pump or power steering, and it sounds like your power steering... double check the fluid on the ground, positive its yellow/orange? or a neon yellow/green that looks like orange?

are you having any problems besides hearing the sound? problems steering? you might wanna let it run open up the hood and try to find exactly from the compartment..

Sounds like a power steering fluid leak. The system is probably low causing the pump to squeal. Check the fluid level before bringing it to the dealer.

Power steering possibly. Maybe it is also a loose belt and something leaking that are completely unrelated.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. The fluid I found was definitely a florescent orange, so by judging by what was said I think it is the power steering. Does anybody know approximately how much this will cost to get fixed?

if it's just low all you have to pay for is some power steering fluid then fill it up and your good, unless it burnt up your pump being low on fluid. I'd check as soon as you could.

he said its leaking, so depending where its leaking from, he might have to dish some $$ for parts before he puts more fluid into it
