Well I was selling my Cougar for dirt cheap which was $1000 and it had plenty of goodies like a Cobra intake, BBK 70mm TB, Pro-M MAF 76mm, electric fan, SPAL fan controller, etc... just those parts alone is worth something like 1300 brand new. The car itself is in pretty good shape but the only problem was a faulty exhaust valve however I did find some freshly built E7 heads for it which I would have just left in the trunk. I thought I sold it, but the guy has no more money so I lost the sale.

I've had a few people interested but they didn't have any cash. One kid had enough money to waste on a 97 cavy (dumped the 4 banger and installed a 3.8 V6 - nice sleeper but still) but said it would cost too much to change the heads?

I really needed the $1000 but I found the money somewhere else (sold my body to a fat chick for $1000 lol j/k). So now screw it, the goodies are going to be removed and placed in the Mustang. I'll put it back to stock minus the TB and flowmaster exhaust and either sell it or keep it as my beater. Oh and it will have freshly built E7 heads which have been milled and ported.

I had people offer me 6000 for my Mustang while they were over to look at the Cougar but yet said "oh well I don't have $1000 right now" WTF! Basically if I had a POS honda civic DX which smoked oil and rusted all to hell, I would have sold it within an hour. I don't know what's so wrong with the shape of a Cougar to scare people away... it's a nice car and drives like a freaking dream - it will outhandle a lot of cars on the road and do it with style and have a nice sounding V8 under the hood.

arrghhhh lol

It's a sad fact....our cars aren't viewed as a "coveted" item by the majority, so they're often busted down to senior citizen or real estate salesmen use.

That's fine with me though. I paid next to nothing for my car and if I don’t get the asking price I want for the car when it comes time to sell it, I’ll pull the power train and stuff it into another Mustang and sell the car for black book. No sweat off my back. In the mean time, I don't mind having a sleeper that will put most Imports and even Mustangs for that matter to shame when the pedal hits the floor. :nice:

.....if you really want to sell it. Swap those E7TE heads you got sitting in the trunk onto the engine and get it running tip top, then advertise it as a "'92 5.0L HO engine and AOD transmission for sale....can be heard running and driven".

You're not lying about it....but a lot of people aren't aware of the fact that the early '90's Cougars/Thunderbirds house the 5.0L HO and will assume it's out of a Mustang......and I've seen plenty of people dish out $1,000 for an engine and transmission out of a Mustang before. If they give you any hassle, illustrate the point that they utilize the same power train and ask them if they'd rather buy an engine that can be heard running, or one sitting on someone’s garage floor that has god knows what done to it?

If they're smart, they'll jump at it. If not, you probably don't need to waste your time arguing with them anyway.
