Whats your gas mileage??

Oh yeah, I was gonna post mine too. :rlaugh:

My II gets an average of 15-16 depening on how hard I drive it. (351w/AOD and 3.55 gears) Doesnt matter what the speed I cruise at.
Also have a 79 merc bobcat (2.3/4speed) that does this. Exactly 20mpg no matter what.

Now I have a 95 cougar 4.6L that gets about 19 to 22 on normal days. (45-65 mph)
But If Im on the highway, and cruising faster than 85-90, my MPG jumps to almost 25. I cant figure it out. Its thumpin around 3000 RPMs, and has plenty more power if I need it. Weird that that happens when the windforce is much greater at that speed.

I wish I could say, but my speedometer isn't hooked up and my gas guage doesn't work. I used to get surprisingly good milage on the highway, guessing in the high teens, with a .63 overdrive T5, 3.80's and a 4 barrel. Around town, it sucked it up, but that's probably due to my heavy foot. After I rejetted it and put a lighter secondary spring in, it got worse, down to what I would expect from a built V8.

Well, for me, gas milage has never been a concern for me with any of my IIs. But my 76 gets outstanding gas mileage. Keep in mind that since it's restored to OEM specs, all the proper things are hooked up and functional, and it really has made a difference in how it runs. I can also comment on the turbo 4 deal. I had an 86 Turbo Coupe, which weighs a tad more than a V8 II, and it got 27 mpg and ripped off mid 14 second ETs :D .

my 78 v8 II (the drivetrain is restored to 78 mach1 oem specs, the body is a mix between mach 1 and cobra) gets about 15 mpg around town and even less on the highway. I believe this is due to the three speed tranny which runs it 3000-3500 rpm's constant when on the highway. I couldnt tell what the rear end gear is and I dont know how to check, all that I know is that its what originally shipped with the 302 2bbl mach 1's.

Since most of mine have been daily driven at one time or another, I've kept track of the gas mileage....I only kept track on long trips with the '74.

Did the cold weather have any effect on your mileage I remember mine seemed very ballsy in the winter up in ND

MY pinto gets about 18mpg, but thats because of my t3/t4 and my heavy foot :) 340 gears in the 8"

MY XR4ti scores between 20-24 depending if i have all the sensors and stuff up to snuff, it was a 400.00 car so somethings always going wrong, but they are easy fix's so I dont bitch too often.

The mustang only clicked off 9mpg last week but I had just brought it home. I was goofing around today (its way too snowy to drive it) and noticed the carb was a 4780 double pumper (800cfm). I pulled it and installed a 1850 (600cfm) I had laying around with the ford kickdown on it. Between the right kickdown stuff and the fact my 600 was in better shape, I might gain a little in the mpg dept, then again with the cam thats in this car I dont know, plus Ive yet to check the gears they feel and tack out in the 340-355 range which I hope is what they are that would be nice.
