Hello, I have a humming or howling noise from the rear of my 96GT convertible. Its loud when holding a constant speed, and quiet when letting off the gas...... Any ideas?????????
i have the same type of noise...its a wurring sound comming from the rear of the car, but it only makes the sound when im in a hard left turn. i thought it was something rubbing but now im convinced it might be a wheel bearing or diff.
My 97 Vert does it too, I always thought it was the tread pattern on the Nittos. I only hear it at lower speeds, on the highway I don't notice it. There is no insulation under the top well, Flowmasters are louder inside a vert too.

if your noise is specific to the right or the left then its most likely a wheel bearing otherwise it might be your carrier, a wheel bearing is supereasy to replace, and a bearing rebuild kit(from ford) for the carrier is only about $63 if i'm not mistaken
