Im sold on 17x10s in the rear with a 275/40/17 tire. However, I cant decide on the front- should I go 17x8 with 235/45/17 or 17x9 with 245/45/17?

The place Im ordering from gave me a price qoute, and the 17x8's with 235 tire will be more expensive than the 17x9 with 245/45 by about 30 bucks.

What do you think is better for performance? style? etc?

Right now I have 17x9 cobra r's all the way around wtih 245/45/17 tires. The front looks fine but isn't lowered yet. I have bbk progressive springs to install, hopefully I wont run into any issues. It appears that the tires will fit right at the lip. I figured Id def need to roll the front fenders, but just realized they are already rolled!

The only other factor is that the wheels I want are deep dish in the rear, and the 17x9's have more lip than that 17x8's which I think keeps the look of the deep dish.

Ive always had my eye on those sc wheels.... looks like a few others on here too. I have cobra r's now and just sick of them. Im for sure going with the 17x10s in the back with the 275/40's.

I talked to another guy that has 17x8's with 245/45's and he likes that combo. And now your saying the 17x9's with 235/45s. Thought it wasnt good to use a 235 tire on 9's?? So, I dont know which way to go. The 17x9's has more of a lip tho compared to the 17x8s right? I think those would go better with the deep dish in the rear.

Looking at my cobra r's now with 245/45 in the front, I could see why the 235 would fit better with 17x9's, or going with the smaller wheel 17x8s. That guy I mentioned, has 8's with 245/45- I know you can use a bigger tire on those, rather than using smaller tires on the 9's. I have yet to install my bbk lowering springs up front, and it looks like if it was lowered now it will barely tuck under the fender. Of course Im not too happy on how low the car sits in the rear with the bbk springs, so maybe the front wont sit that low either.

yeah most people i know run 245's on 8" wheels. thats what i would normally run too, but i've heard some people say theres a tiny issue with a 245 on a 9" rim up front (or atleast a 245/45), so i figure a 235/45 would help suck the tread width in a little to help clear my fenders. the guy from the company i ordered my wheels from recommended it too, but i think he was just trying to reassure the sale. yeah the 9's have a noticably bigger lip than the 8's; the 8's have almost no lip. i was originally going to go with 8's but they were sold out so they "upgraded" me to 9's for no extra charge. my wheel should hopefully be in by saturday, i'll let you know how they fit.

Yea, I think I want the 9's up front because the more lip will go with the deep dish in the rear. I think I might do what you did, and go with 235 up front cause once I lower my car in the front, I think the 9's with 245/45 might have issues. 17x9 with 235 isnt too stretched is it? I was wondering if there will be more wear and tear issues running them on a wider wheel?

Please do let me know how they work out for you. And of course send me some pictures. I'm prob going to place my order within a week or two. Where did you order yours, and if you dont mind- how much did you pay? Thanks for your help!
