Wheel not Centered in Fenderwell

The front wheels on my 95 Cobra are too far back. Attached is a picture with the wheels straight ahead. Same on both sides. Any ideas? I'm thinking MM coil overs with the forward offset control arms may do the trick ( I want to get coil overs any ways). But what could be the real problem here?

Car's front suspension has tokico shocks, HRSS springs, MM CC plates, and a brand new steering rack.

Is your K-Member moved back?

Not that I know of.. Is there a way to check (other than by looking at the wheels). Any reason why it might be moved back?

so you have stock control arms and a stock k-member now?

I dont know how or why your k-member would be back so far, and Im not sure that factory mounting points would put it there... I dont how else both sides could be back that far though... Does your engine sit back really tight against the firewall?

Heh, you have the exact same wheel setup as me. I even have the same before after picture with the new fat tires sitting next to the old skinny ones. Love the FR500's.

My engine doesn't seem to sit any father back than normal. I installed a fluidyne radiator and it was a 12 year old *tight* fit, I figure if my engine was sitting 1 - 1.5" back then I would have had much more room for the Rad.

Think the forward offset control arms would do the trick? Any other Ideas?

Someone would probably have to have an "offset" wheel's Stang next to a "normal" Stang to see what's different. If the K-Member is twisted somehow you wouldn't be able to see the difference easily in the engine bay, unless you were able to compare engine bays.

I wonder if one of the control arm mounting holes is off? Or could the front clip be tweaked slightly from the factory? My black 'Stang's wheels are centered but the driver's side sticks out about a half-inch too far, it's noticeable compared to the other wheel.

It might be a tolerance stack issue from the factory. I do believe that the stock k-member is slotted at its chassis attachment points. You may have some wiggle room to slide the entire k-member forward to center it a bit more. What condition are you’re front control arm bushing in?

Hehehehe, thats a ford thing. I couldnt stand it though mine was similar but not that bad so I shifted the cradle forward to fix that. Got more caster out of it and centered the wheel in there.

Go get the car aligned. The caster reading will tell you if there is a problem. You could also measure the distance from wheel base on each side (measure center to center). The numbers should be within .5 in of eachother. But the alignment would be the best bet to see if there is a problem as it measures quite a few different angles.

Looks like a caster issue, is the caster plate all the way towards the rear of the car??

Something looks horribly wrong. It shouldn't be like that. Anyone who says that's normal and their car is like it has a problem with their car too.

what size tire are u running just outa curiousity?

Falken FK 452 - 255/45R17 up front.

I had them aligned a while ago, Les Schwab said they had no issues aligning the front wheels. I didnt specifically ask about the weird spacing. I'll go back here soon and ask.
