im looking at 2 new sets of wheels. both are black bullitts.

set one: 17x9 ( all 4 ) with 24mm offset

set two: 17x8 and 17x9 ( 8 in fronts / 9 in rears ). fronts have 30mm offset. rears have 24mm offset

my question is how will this offset look? will the 30mm offset be more "sunk in" to the wheel well than the 24mm's? or do i have that reversed.

explain please

thanks

fwiw, stock rims are 8" wide and have a 24 mm offset.

less offset than that will place the centerline of the wheel closer to the outside edge of the car.

more offset will shift the wheel in towards the driveshaft.

i'd stick with the 24mm offset or get 1/4" spacers if i really wanted the ones with the 30mm offset.

Last I heard, the stockers are 30mm offset. I know that's the case for all the later ones, like the Bullitts, Mach 1, 99 Cobras, etc. Not sure about Tri-bars, but I don't see why they'd be different.

In any case, the 17x8 30mm ones would fit like a take off Bullitt rim. I'd get the 24mm offset ones, the stock wheels make our cars look like roller skates. Hell, they're still stuck too far in w/ 24mm. They need to offer a 0mm for the rears.

I just noticed your sig.

The 24mm ones will be just like the wheels you have now.

Pretty sure. They have the Ford Bullitts at 30mm for a 17x8.

thanks guys-

so the 30mm offset wheels would be sunk in closer to the driveshaft, right?

if thats the case, wouldnt that look pretty good in the front?

(are 17x9 cobra rs 24mm ? )

Correct. I suppose it would be a matter of perspective as to whether or not it looks good with the wheel sunk deeper into the wheel well.

17x9 Cobra R's are almost always 24mm.

preciate it man. i just wanted to make sure i understood right.

i guess why i think a 30mm offset would look good on front is because now i have 17x9 cobra rs on the car. since they are 24mm offset, the 255's i have on the front now even sticks out past the front fender. if they were 'sunk in' a little with a 30mm offset, that 255 wouldnt stick out in the front.

just my $.02

I think they would look better in the 30mm in front so the tires dont stick out from the fenders. IM looking into a second set of rims for show only and Ill keep my 17" svt cobras, one set of show rims im looking at are are 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear (Black American Racing Rogue wheels) and I was told by the dealer that the fronts should be +30/+35 offset with 245-35-20 and the rear should be +41 offset with 275-35-20's so that they dont stick out of the fenders. If the rear is too sunk in then I can put on a set of spacers.

Heres a link to the rims:

and these are another set of 20x8.5, they remind me of my old z06 rims I had on my fox body:

What do you guys think of the two
