wheel shake while braking??

What are the causes of this? My does it sometimes when braking slightly but when I press the brakes hard it wont do it. My front tires are BAD is that my prob? My rotors were recently replaced because they were warped supposedly (should have done it myself ) but it still does it like it did before the rotors were changed. Any other ideas? i'm planning on replacing all the bushings up front with polyurethane ones eventually cause they are all shot. Could that be my problem? pretty much just guessing at this point. but its pretty embarassing when someones in my car and I hit the brakes and I can barely hold onto the damn steering wheel.

hahaha, that's what it does to me anywhere above 40mph unless i'm braking hard

i too thought it was the rotors, replaced them and nothing different, then i heard u were supposed to replace pads at the same time so i did that the next day and still, no change...

i think ur probably right with the bushings

u figure out what it is, let me know. i'll do the same

above 40!! That sounds right to me. But if I hit em hard it just hooks and doesnt shake at ALL. How is your alignment? My is messed up. But I wouldnt think that would have anything to do with it. Hopefully someone will help us out.

I'd also vote for bushings. I'm almost 100% positive that's why mine does it too. Plus my car tracks everywhere on rough roads and I have some play in the steering wheel. I'm just going to go with these:

A- arms and bushings

new arms, ball joints, and better bushings.

Mine did that, and would go away when I hit the brakes... new rotors and pads cure it right up. Did you season the rotors? Or have you warped the new ones already?

well, i didn't know you were supposed to replace the rotors AND pads at the same time so i may have warped the new ones, and in that case i'll live with it. i did put on the new pads just a day later soo... i dunno

Did you season the rotors? I did my last set but I haven't really put THAT many miles on them to see if it helped in long run.

one of most annoying things,i hate when that happens,,,,first off , you will need to get your rotors turned again,but have new tires on...a tire that has been up front too long, will mess up your rotors,depending on the condition of your front end is ,keep rotating evry 4 thou

are you sure it is not the tires themselves? the forces and harmonics from light braking could exacerbate an out of balance condition. have you swapped front and rear wheels, etc?

proper burnishing (new brake hardware) is important for best performance, but few folks really do it; few seem to suffer significant effects.

improper wheel torquing can warp a rotor like that. stay away from the air guns (not you, but guys in a shop that dont care about your car).

a wandering track (which likes to ride and follow ruts) can also come from bad caster settings.

I have pretty much all of the problems you listed there. Bad alignment, bad tires, and I know that I didnt do proper burnishing because Im not even sure what that means. I am going to be addressing most of my problems soon. I'll be buying new tires and getting an alignment within the next month or so. Hopefully it will cure the prob. If not I guess its time for some cobra brakes. I will never spend money on stock replacements again.

my car did that when i still had my 16" pony wheels on it. The front tires were warped, and dry-rotted, and cause had vibration in the front end when braking. Now i have wheels and tires that are good, and its just a good vibrations now.

Warped rotors will be the cause most of the times and bald fronts will def do that also. If you get cold water on the rotors while their hot like spraying the wheels off during a car wash they will warp like a mofo after a couple times. You should always change the pads when putting on new rotors.
