Wheel Spacers

I would like everyone’s opinions about wheel spacer’s pros and cons. I've heard some say there great and others say they cause wheel-bearing issues. I’ve seen several on cars at auto shows they look great. I would like to keep my stock wheels 17X8 thanks in advance.

That's the thing cars at auto shows look great as will your car too. But see those cars at the auto show don't get driven like ours. See wheel spacers put more stress on your suspension, and there is a chance the lugs can snap off. You will be fine with a small spacer like 1/8 or 1/4 inch. I wouldn't go with anything over that though.

ill probably go with a 1/2" spacer in the back, but i have ARP studs, so thats a diff story.

Wrong, they put stress on the bearings, and that's only if they are too big. You can say that with longer Offset rims aswell.

Another problem you can come across is having crappy made spacers that don't line up right.

With stock studs they put more stress on the base of the stud. SInce the wheel is moved outwards it gives it more leverage to twist the stud and snap them.

If you want to run spacers, you need to swap to hardened studs.

If you don't....well, one of the guys in the 5.0 forums found out the hard way what happened when he saw his wheel fly past him at 60MPH.

Ive had my spacers on for about a yr with no problems. They are 1.25" inch wheel spacers and they make the back of your stang look badd azz. I just took them off though and am selling them for $50. Any takers. Lugs and 2 locker lugs included.

I've had my 1 inch H&R spacers on for 8 months and that's 8 months of HARD driving with no problems. I think you should go with a good quality brand to be safe. The rear looks much better .

i have 1 inch spacer for 30k miles, havent had a problem. on the last mustang they were on for 175k no problems

I'm not a spacer fan for the unballanced pressure on the bearings. I'd be scared of high speed runs. But that's my opinion.

Ive ran 1 inch rear spacers for 7 years, no issues, they are the bolt on type. Like tomustang said earlier if done correctly its the same amount of stress caused by runnning wide 10"+ wheels.

Ditto, I have a 1" spacer on the front end so I could fit the Brembos. I'm putting 1" spacers on the back too once I get back to the US. I've driven almost daily above 100mph on the autobahn until today since it started snowing with no problems. Had them on for about 4 months now.

You've also got to consider there are spacers, and there are adapters. Spacers have 1 set of holes, and simply slip over the studs behind your wheels. Most of the 1"+ sets people talk about are adapters. They bolt to the existing lugs, and then have a seperate set of legs press in to bolt your wheels to. I ran a set that was hubcentric (the ONLY kind "I" would recommend) for several months before getting 10.5" wheels. No problems with them, and love the look, especially after lowing it.

I too am trying to sell mine... Probably just going to put them on ebay...

Only spacers I've used are so I can clear my calipers when I put my convo pro's on. It's a big one 7/16 prolly the biggest spacer you'd want to use. Anything bigger than that I'd use an adapter.

I have 30mm H&Rs in the rear. I think that is about 1-3/8".
