Wheel time...

Alright, my 65's current tires have bit the dust. Its time for new wheels....i have cragars on right now, 14x6, they were on the car when I got it. Instead of going back to the stock wheels I was thinking of getting another aftermarket set. I like the torquethrust II's and similar wheels. What I need to know is, what wheel size/ tire combinations can I run? The car has front rotors installed, and clear the current cragars fine. Whats the widest wheel I can run? Widest Tire etc.....I dont want these wheels sticking out past the fenders.

Ok...so lets see here and see if I get this right....I want 15x7 rims, according to the chart, I can run eagle tires in the 215 60 15 size, with a 4.25 backspace and they will not come out past the fender? Does it matter which eagle tire?

Are you set on the TT2's, or what about the 16 inch aluminums off the '05 stang. I think this style looks like it's straight from the 60's, so I'm thinking of trying it on my '70...for these, I'm lookin' on ebay. You could get all four wheel/tire combos shipped for under $550, and I think the 16 inch size would look perfect on a classic. While I'm in the spotlight, does anyone know what kind of adapters I might need to make these work on a '70 stang??

Finally an answer...its like drawing blood. Wheres a good place to get wheels at? I think 16's are going to cause too much problems getting the wheels to fit. I dont want a low rider look here.

this question has been beaten to death on search. 16s won't cause a low rider look. If anything I wish we had gone with 16s. 15s w/ 215/60 tires will look like rubberbands in the back.

tirerack.com has good prices on tires. use froogle.google.com to find the wheels you want.

I have 17s on my 66 fastback - I have a thread over in the tech section with pictures right now-

and they fit fine, and I would not call them the low rider look

How wide? Also, what size tires are you running? do you have any suspension mods?

They are factory Bullit wheels-
17x8.5

I am running 225/45/17 in the front, 235/45/17s in the back -

I have alot of suspension mods- the car is sitting a few inches lower then stock- so if your car is stock height- they will fit no problem-

you just need to get some wheel spacers to push the wheels out a bit-

Also I should mention, my fenders are rolled on that car- was done by previous owner- so if yours are not rolled- you may get some rubbing

Instead of looking at a wheel chart you should find a car you like and go from there.If you want to be up in the times,stay away from 14,15,and 16" wheels,those sizes were about 10 years ago.
