first, let me appologize, i know there are 5000 wheel tire posts, but in my search, and its been an hour, i have not found what i needed to know. i am running a turbo stang at the track with 18x9 wheels with 265.45 MT ET streets on them, 2 weeks ago i ran very low 8's, i installed 4.10 gears and i do nothing but spin the whole time. . *cue video*

what i need is a smaller rim "*%*#^@ 15's.. so i guess a 16x10 for the rear with a good drag slick. does anyone know of an affordable one for our cars. . i see a bunch of 17's but i wanna go smaller as im going to use these for a 93notch drag car we are currently building.

TIA

I believe the tires are too narrow and short! Get at least a 10-11" wide tire and about 27.5" or taller and play around with different pressures. 18s can and will work. Could even be your suspension setup that is killing your traction.

From what I've seen, M&H tires hook up better than the M/T's. They're just lesser known. Also, the 16" wheel selection out there is very limited. You'd be best off to get a lightweight 17" and throw some M&H's on there. Otherwise, there's always the 15" Bogarts.

i may have found some 15's that will work with some caliper shaving. . and some 9" drag slicks.. .that should do the trick.

Could be track prep too, I know at least out here the tracks are hurting thus no income for the track up keep. Im bolt on NA with 410s and spun first thro fourth my first time out this year.

belz, your not only going to have clearance issues with the calipers coming down to a 15" wheel, when you shrink the diameter, you also close the tolerances for the shock mount and lower control arm point. Only thing you can do is test fit the wheel, hopefully you can find someone local that has something you can try. The s197 is nothing like years past even though the appearance is similar.

Your best bet is to find a 16 or 17 and save yourself some headache. To jump into a set of bogarts you'll have to cough up an arm or leg in payment.
