when are torque box supports needed

when should you do torque box supports/reinforcements.....ill prob dyno 450 rwhp in spring and have spent alot of money as is and need a few more things ...torque box supports are my list but are they needed yet i could use it for somthing else right now
 
I'd guess that if you've got that much hp and you're doing 5k clutch drops, you need'em right now. I'd think that if you've got any kind of stout motor and a strong clutch/trany and you're driving it hard that it wouldnt hurt. I'm just guessing on this, but to me anything that makes things stronger is good, especially since these cars are ageing and you could have weakened or maybe rusted boxs as it is.
 
before I even started to build my engine for more hp or torque my torque boxes were starting to rip from years of abuse, so I went ahead and welded in a set of reinforcements when i put u/l control arms on just to help out. you can get a set that is just as good as the more expensive battle boxes off of ebay for a whole lot less. just thought i'd let ya know. hope that helps you out.
