At what hp/tq levels shuld i look into getting aftermarket axles? I am about to do the 5 lug swap, and i get everything at cost from the local oreillys, which includes the ranger axles... im trying to see if i should get those, or upgrade to something like mosers.. the price is killing me on the moser axles though... so i am wondering if i can get away with ranger axles and not wory about breakage..

Im replacing the front calipers with the lincoln mark 7 units, and they gave me an option of piston material. They said they have ones with steel pistons, phenolic pistons or plastic pistons... which should i get and why please.

Thanks in advance!

As for the axels, going with moser's will be slightly stronger then the ranger ones but not really anything amazing to go throwing extra cash at. Unless you go with a 31 spline or 33 spline axel setup which would require a new unit all together then i'd go with the ranger ones... even more so if they are low mile axels. If you plan on going big hp/tq later on then this may be a good time to look into beefing up the whole rear. If your just a street setup then the ranger axels will work perfectly. To the best of my knowledge, the ranger axels can hold a decent amount of hp/tq and also unless your running slicks/drag radials then you won't be putting a HUGE strain on them anyways.

+1 for the steel pistons in the calipers, and like it was stated above unless you are gonna put some big hp to the rear and have some sticky ires back there, you should be fine. on street radials, the tires will usually break free before the axles break. Notice I said usually......
