Cats going south more often than not smell like rotten eggs, or start rattling out of the blue when the stuff inside them breaks up.

Maybe now is the perfect time to swap in a nice midpipe then and forget about those cats...

Problem could be a lot of other things other than your cats...but if there is a weird smell, then yeah it might be the cats. Take em off and inspect them.

When do you know your cats are bad?

If they're peeing all over the carpet, scratching everything up, spraying/marking the walls, pooping outside the litter box, looking at you like you don't know **** and never obeying a word you say, tearing up the curtains in your living room and so forth.. damn furry, mischevious little animals..

Oh wait, you meant catalytic converters

Not quite sure on that one

also because of the heat they generate when they are clogged they might glow red after you turn everything off, not kidding

Pretty sure bad cats would throw a code and trigger SES light.

yeah i too have seen them glow red when overheated. you guys do have to remember when you get on a car with cats you will get some smell out of the tailpipe. the cats are tuned to deal with emmisions of a motor running at or near stoch. at WOT the mixture is richer so you get a little smell. not rotten eggs it's another smell. the rotten egg smell is from sulfur in the gas.

you should not have any smell during normal driving. it is possible your cats are starting to clog up.

I think your engine light would go on if your cats were bad.
