When you early 20 year olds plan to buy ur first house?

Many kids will be living with their parents a lot longer then planned. Growing up everyone was out of the parents house by 18 ( I was 19). Now it will be like 30.
You just described my situation especially since the knee injury REALLY set me back :( . I don't plan on staying in So. Flo too long I just can't afford to live in the 9th fastest growing city in the U.S. Unless I get the postal job I've been waiting for, I'm competing with 100,000 applicants :nonono: .

I'm 21 and have a year left of college, but after that I really can't see myself buying a house right away. First, I want to make sure I have a job that is going to allow me to stay in one area, and second, my girlfriend (same age) is going to be applying to vet school this coming fall, so she could be in the Champaign area for another 4 years. I am going to have tons of bills to pay off when I get out from loans and what not as well, so I think I wouldn't be looking to buy a house untill I was 28 or older. I will have close to $50K to pay back from school loans and... uh hum... my car. Before coming into school my freshman year, the loan officer at the bank told me I could take out student loans and put them towards anything I would like... so I bought my car with a student loan! To this day I have not paid a cent on it (not bragging, trust me!) and the loan was just rolled into others I needed for school. If it wasn't for this, there is no way I ever could have had my Stang, so it's worth the hell of paying back a 4 year old low interest loan (I think 1.5-2%).

I am 20. I have 2 yrs. of college left and am living with my parents for probably 3 more years. I just opened a savings account for a house and have $140 so far. haha. Gotta start somewhere. Hopefully in three years I'll have around $25,000 cash.

I'll probably be married by then with a combined income of around $80k.

Black95GTS - You gotta look in CT man... granted it was 4 years ago when I was 22 but I bought my house for beans compared to what they get in MA and RI and I am only 5 miles out of RI off Rt 6.

I mean if you are going to be in Worchester (sp?) anyway... So where you working now?

i'm 21, i just bought a house in portugal, my grandpa's old house , and am already rebuilding alot of it. (i just came back last week). just like i did with my cars, i saved up all i could and bought it cash. houses here are way too much right now tho, another year tho, and it'll go down a bit. i'm staying at my parents house as long as i can, so when i get one, it'll be the "perfect home" for me.

I plan on moving when I get $50,000 saved. I have about $300 now. :D

Seriously though, when I get out of college and find a job (Mechanical Engineer), I'm probably going to live at home for the first two years to save up enough money to put a down payment on a decent house.

I'm sucking every last bit of what I can out of my parents....lucky them. :)

I'm a manager for a mortgage company, rates are not going down right now trust me there going up, my par rate 1 month ago was at 5.2% and its sitting at 5.75% right now. Unless the market index starts to drop they are going to continue to rise (thanks greenspan and Bush) and property values are still rising. Here in cali a house for 175 - 500k is not to be found. at least not one worth paying that much for.

On a different note its actually easier to qualify for a loan now than it was 2 years ago.
If anyone wants any more information on homes or loans you can always pm me. I'm not trying to sell anything and I'm not a real estate broker, but I can answere questions for ya. I always tell my friends to call me on there loan papers to see if theres crap on them that banks like to put on to take advantage of the situation. All the commercials on t.v. you see no closing costs yada yada yada, there :bs: Nobody works for free Especially a bank. And dont forget there alot of programs out there for people.

Ok my little rant is over.

Just be careful, though -- the values of homes may go up faster than you can accumulate the down payment :).

I bought my house when I was 21, that was four years ago. I knew the people selling and since we didnt have to use a real estate agent it was a quick deal. A tip for some of you guys living at home, this is how I save my down payment. Change what you claim on your taxes. I claimed 1 and had an additionally $25 a week taken out of my check. The three years I did this it got me a refund of $2000 and $2500. I started this when I was 19 and in two years I had my downpayment.

Thats a damn good idea. :hail2: I might as well claim zero in fact because I don't really need the extra loot in my check as I only have to worry about 2 car insurances, 1 car payment, 1 cell phone, and the college loan.

Damn, Now I dont feel so bad lol. I'm still at home. But I played Jr hockey from 18-21 and now as long as i'm trying to do something my parents are really cool. I plan on moving out as soon as I get a job as a fire fighter/emt. I just started my emt classes last week and I will finish them in nov then the fire academy starts in jan. Then once I finish in april I can get a job as a ff. It only starts off at 30k a year but thats alot better then what i'm making now and with the 24on 48off shifts I can get a second job aking about $11+ an hour. And when I finish the classes the fire dept in ther town I live in plans on hiring some more guys.

Im not totaly sure, but I think claiming 0 gets you more back on your weekly paycheck, claiming 1 allows them to take more taxes but you'll have a beeter refund.

Claiming 0 for everything gets more taxes taken out. I claim 0 for everything and get ass-raped each check, but usually get a nice refund.

I turned 23 in March, and I had been planning on finding an apartment this summer/fall, but for some reason I bought a brand new ranger and put a 418 in the stang so now Im broke. Maybe next year I'll be caught up and have some money in back in the bank. It'll be a long time before I buy a house, but I would def. like to move out in the next 2-3 years.
