When I purchased my car, it came with white-face gauges previously installed. I would like to change the gauges back to the stock black color.

Now here's the problem, I haven't been able to find a set of stockers, or any black gauge faces (except for some tacky ones with flames on them.)

I went to my local Ford dealer and they could order me the stock black gauges, but only if I purchased the whole instrument gauge cluster.....about $300 bucks. No thanks.

My car is a 1994 GT. Is my only hope the junkyard???????

Were the aftermarked gauges whole new faces or overlays?

If they were overlays, you could peel them off and use some rubbing alcohol to remove the tape residue.

Otherwise, try Ebay.

Yeah, you should take the 15 minutes to take it apart and see what's underneath if you have not already done so. The cluster is a piece of cake, there is a nice how-to on here somewhere. Hopefully the stock black is right underneath and you won't have to spend any money at all.

Well, this weekend I'll take the gauge cluster out of the dash and see just what lurks beneath that white overlay.

I assumed that the black overlays would not be under the aftermarket set. I read a tutorial on installing aftermarket overlays, and in the pics there is definetely nothing but clear plastic under the aftermarket set, and the stock black set was removed. Here is a link.

I'll figure it out this weekend. I hope, hope, hope that the stock set is just covered up.

I just came accross a set(several) in the boneyard, while picking up a wiring harness. I hate boneyards, dealing with some of these guys just makes me shake my head, the car I got the harness from had a complete leather interior in it exposed to the weather, on the other hand I did get the main harness for $50 bucks (it was still connected to the ECM). However the engine & tranny where long gone.
