This is totally stupid, but I can't source a stock (non-chrome) dipstick tube for a 68 289. Local parts stores don't carry them, mustang parts houses don't carry them and I couldn't even find one on Ebay... Local Ford dealer wanted $35 for a pilot bearing so I figure they'll want at least $100 for a dipstick set if they have one.

Any ideas?

try Virginia Classic Mustang http://www.virginiaclassicmustang.com/ search for dipstick. Looks like they have chrome and blue. They might have what you are looking for

Thanks for the replies guys, but I'm trying to avoid the chrome and the ford blue knurled handle ones. Also avoiding the stainless and aluminum ones. I'm going for that vintage look.

You wouldn't think finding the original stock one would be so hard

02MGGT, You're a genious! They have it. $10. I gave up on the Mustang parts houses after Mustangs Plus, NPD and Mustangs Unlimited didn't have it. I'll order one in the morning. Thanks!!!
