where do i get a filter that goes on my oil cap to relieve crank case pressure? ive found the filters at advanced auto and stuff, but do they make a specific application for our stangs?

i was having smoke and oil leak out of my rear main seal, i took the oil cap off and took it for a drive and no more smoke or leak...

Lots of stang resto houses sell them. Have you checked the screen under the PCV valve and the valve itself? That will bottleneck crankcase pressure if you have a restriction or back up there.

Good luck.

I just bought one of those. What can I cap the line off with? (the one on the CAI) Do I just use a vacuum cap? I figure that may eventually come off. A screw/bolt would be tacky. Also, it is aluminum piping .......

I'm surprised that the running the PCV with filtered breather cap debate hasn't flared up again! I hope that 95cobramike gets a new PCV filter, grommet, and valve and calls it a day. The oil coming out of my VCs and rear seal stopped when I changed those parts.

A breather is a def need with a blower. You can plug the line by simply placing some electrical tape over the nipple then sliding the hose back over that. I found a really tight fitting rubber cap to use on mine, but I used the tape thing for years.

Or run a forced induction PCV valve (TC, Supra, etc).

You have to plug the nipple on the oil filler neck. The one that normally runs to the air inlet. You can leave the PCV valve as is.

running an open filter cap on the valve cover, while still using the stock PCV system, will create an unmetered air leak, and ultimately... a lean condition.

You don't need to use a vented cap, just make sure your PCV system components are in good working order. If you still have crankcase issues, its a mechanical problem... and should be fixed.
