Ok I want to know where you guys think my redline is on my STOCK TACH.

I have the following mods:
World's Windsor Jr. Heads
Ford Racing e303 cam
(I think I have aftermarket pistons, and rods)
Custom Polished Cobra Intake
Edlebrock 70mm TB

I also have other mods like Headers, h pipe, CAI, 355 gears etc.

So where do you think APPROX is the redline on my car...what is the highest I should push it before shifting (during a race) where is the highest safe point to shift (when just having fun and ripping)

Thanks a lot!!!

with all those mods especially the cam and heads, your entire powerband is shifted up quite a bit. I would say the redline is just a touch over 6k but i would probly shift out around 5700-5800 or somewhere around there. Im not very familiar at all with the victor jr heads, but u could dyno it to fidn out for sure.

what valvetrain came on those jr heads? Springs have a lot to do with how high you can rev before you get valve float.

just because you've got a cam that has an upper rpm powerband range doesnt mean you can necessarily rev that high especially if you've got a stock valvetrain that can't work at the higher range.

I agree the cam could pull past 6200 but if the valvetrain is't designed to go past say 5800 there's no point. besides i think the stock computer cuts you off at 6200.

if you check my sig u can see my mods.. heads, cam, etc.. i have the 6250 chip in my MSD still.. but from my dyno sheet my car is still making power at 6200.. but it has leveld off so bad.. im better off shifting at like 5600-5650 ... the PEAK is right around there.. you should def go to the dyno

Ok well thanks guys, one last question I think I have taken it up to 6200 or more before, if I did float my valves what kind of damage did it cause to my car? Will it cause power loss or what? Should I not worry about it and just start shifting at 5700rpm?

Here is some more info on my heads so you can see what springs they have...im not too sure sorry:

Mine are the windsor JR (iron)

Thanks!

You probably didn't float any valves since they are different springs. Like everybody says, just go get a dyno and figure out where you need to be. Get a chip, tweecer, or other eectuner to get your ride rollin.

FYI - as stackz already touched on:

your powerband does not dictate your redline, it only dictates what you should build the engine to handle rpm-wise. the redline is determined by the components used to build the engine in the first place. ie. light weight pistons, 0oz balance, heavy duty valvesprings, cam profiles, type of lifters, etc.

you will need to dyno/track tune the car to figure out the optimum shift points.
