Im trying to figure out why its not getting power. Does it go to the fuse box? The radio fuse in the kick panel is for constant power I believe, where does the swtiched power one lead to?

one is red and one is yellow right? one gets constant 12V and the other gets a ignition switched 12V right now i forget which is which, but the ACC does get switched power

Yellow wire gets constant power from the fuse box.

Red wire gets ignition switched power.

Use a test light and test both of those wires at the radio to see which one isn't getting power.

You can also use the test light to check all of the fuses to find a bad one.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!!!!!! Just forget why it's not getting power. Run a new wire from an ignition source to the radio wire and you are done. It need not be fused + it only draws ~200mA. Get a couple 10ga butt connectors and splice in somewhere.

Tracing electrical shorts and opens are a waste of time; it takes no time at all to run a new wire.

Tracing shorts is a big PITA. But it could be as simple as a blown fuse that hasn't been found. I'd check the fuses first with a test light. If all are good, then run a new acc wire.

Anytime any circuit or wiring is added like this, it's a good idea to fuse it. It doesn't matter what the draw of the component is - if the added wire shorts to ground, it will start wiping out whatever donor circuit was tapped into or blowing its fuse at a minimum. That's not cool. If all is always copacetic, the added fuse will never blow anyhow.

I and several others mentioned running a new wire before...........

I also like to find the reason and source of shorts just for my own edification.

Yeah I didnt want to run a new wire for the reason above. I followed it back as far as I could and found a burnt inline fuse for my viper alarm ( im guessing thats whats its from cause i sure as hell didnt put it there and thats the only thing that was installed on the car by someone else).
