I will be honest and tell you I may not be the best to advise on this, but mine (vert) is in the truck area. There is a little box like item with a white (I think) button on it that you push to reset it. I am not sure if this is what you are looking for or if it is there in your car but maybe it is somewhere to start to look. I really hope this helps you. I would look to Michael Yount (SP) on this. He seems to be a good source of info. Others here also should know and if he does not I am sure he would know who would. I wish you luck!

Fuel pump relay is under driver seat and the swith in the hatch is a safety switch in case your ever rearended it shuts the fuel pump down.also if you ever shut your hatch to hard or bang around back there and then your car wont start....check the reset switch they get touchy with age.

I had a switch (in my previous Capri) mounted under my driver's seat for the relay, and would shut the fuel pump off for extra security.

Ok i think i should have worded that a little diffrently the switch in the hatch is a reset switch for the sensor that monitors rearend collision and shuts the fuel pump off if you are ever hit in the rear.

I spliced the wires under the driver's seat and installed a switch myself, but I understand about the trunck relay.

I misunderstood the original post, sorry.

Some of the Mustangs have the relay under the seat, others have it located under the Mass air meter, check both locations.
The switch in the hatch is the inertia switch and its pretty hard to trip. I got rear ended once and started the car right back up after that.

Yeah some are under passenger seat But an 89GT is mounted under the drivers seat from the factory,it should be there unless someone has remounted somewhere else.actually the swith in the hatch is really a button and its just a reset button for the rear impact sensor and mine trips if i slam my Hatch down to hard.

well, I don't know why someone would of moved the relay. pull the drivers side seat out and check for any wires. if it's not there follow the wires from the fuel pump forward until you find it

The fuel pump relay for '86-'91 5.0L Mustangs is located beneath the driver's seat.
The fuel pump relay for '92-'93 5.0L Mustangs is located beneath the MAF meter.

The 'switch' in the trunk or hatch area is the fuel shut-off inertia switch. In the event of a roll-over or rear end collision, that switch trips and cuts off power to the fuel pump.
