Not sure I understand your description - 90 engine/tranny in an 81 body?

The maf should be located in the air inlet piping in between the throttle body and the air filter. Hard to miss - has a plug from the wiring harness plugged into it.

I thought the MAF was in the engine bay.... after the airfilter in the intake tract.

Pre 89's were speed density engines, exluding California 88 cars. Another way to check to see if your car is speed density is to see it the BAR/MAP sensor is connected to the intake. It's the black box thing mounted on the firewall right behind the upper intake.

Ok, look at the pic JerryD posted. Number 45 is the black box I'm talking about. If that is connected to the intake, it's speed density. You can also check the computer number, but from the pic you have, I will have to say it's Speed Density.

HEHE You want to keep your TPS Voltage at .98v's Try this....

1- Unplug you battery and wait 5 minutes as well as disconeect the IAC connector.
2- reconnect the battery only and start the car, Set the idle you want with the set screw.
3- Turn off the car
4- reconnect the IAC and set your TPS Voltage to .98 volts(It may take a few tries but it will work, unless your running VERY rich then you would have to try other things such as replace your O2's and such)
